Applies to every user-submitted post (dish photos, captions), comment, and profile on Dish KO.
Prohibited content
Zero tolerance. Same-day removal. Posting any of the following results in immediate content removal and may result in permanent account suspension:
- Sexual content of any kind — including suggestive poses, implied or explicit nudity, and sexual innuendo in captions.
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — reported to NCMEC per 18 U.S.C. § 2258A. Account permanently banned, device banned where possible, law enforcement notified.
- Hate speech — content that attacks or dehumanizes people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, serious illness, or disability.
- Violence and graphic content — gore, animal cruelty, self-harm imagery, glorification of violence.
- Harassment and threats — targeted attacks on specific people, doxing, coordinated pile-on campaigns.
- Illegal goods — promotion or sale of drugs, weapons, stolen goods, counterfeit items.
- Spam and deceptive content — AI-generated photos not disclosed as such, stolen food photography, impersonation, link-farming.
- Off-topic content — Dish KO is for user-cooked dishes. Posts that don't feature a dish will be removed (no ban on first offense, just removal).
Reporting
Every post has a Report button in the three-dot menu. Every user profile has a Report user action. Reports go directly to the moderation admin panel — no filters, no ML triage before a human sees it.
You can also Block any user from their profile. Blocking hides their posts from your duel queue and feed immediately, and prevents them from seeing yours.
Moderation workflow
- Human review of every report within 24 hours weekdays, 48 hours weekends. No ML auto-removal at launch; we'd rather over-review than over-remove.
- Auto-hide threshold: a dish that receives 3 or more unique reports is auto-hidden from public surfaces pending review. The poster sees an "Under review" badge and can appeal via support.
- Pre-moderation gate for duels: dishes need at least 5 flames and 0 reports before they enter the vote queue. This puts a social filter in front of duel surfaces.
Appeals
If your content was removed and you believe it shouldn't have been, email support@dishko.app with the post id (visible in the removal notification) and a brief description. Appeals are reviewed by a different moderator than the one who made the original call.
Law-enforcement emergencies
If you encounter content that appears to depict a crime in progress, an imminent threat to life, or CSAM: report via the in-app Report button AND email urgent@dishko.app with the post url. Our on-call moderator responds within 1 hour.
